“รัฐดูไบ” แม้ จะไม่ใช่เมืองหลวง แต่ก็เป็นเมืองใหญ่ที่สุดของสหรัฐอาหรับเอมิเรตส์ เป็นทั้งศูนย์กลางทางเศรษฐกิจการค้าและเมืองท่าที่สำคัญแห่งหนึ่งของโลก มีพื้นที่รวม 3,885 ตร.กม., ชาวท้องถิ่นมีไม่มากนักเพียง 2.6 ล้านคน โดยร้อยละ 75 เป็นชาวต่างชาติ, ผู้คนส่วนใหญ่นับถือศาสนาอิสลาม นิกายซุนหนี่, ใช้ภาษาอารบิคเป็นภาษาทางราชการ, แต่เนื่องจากมีชาวต่างชาติมาก จึงใช้ภาษาอังกฤษ ฮินดู อุรดูและฟาร์ซีติดต่อสื่อสารด้วย, มีสกุลเงินเรียกว่า “ดีแรห์ม” (1 ดีแหร์ม ประมาณ 10 บาทไทยครับ) ที่นี่อยู่ใต้แสงตะวันอันฉายฉานแบบกึ่งเขตร้อนและแห้งแล้ง อุณหภูมิต่ำสุดเกือบ 10 ํC สูงสุดถึง 48 ํC ส่วนอุณหภูมิเฉลี่ยอยู่ที่ 24 ํC ครับ
